Day 26: Horseshoe Bend

Even if you don’t know its name or where it’s located (I didn’t and didn’t), most people will instantly recognize the iconic image of Horseshoe bend. Formed from a meander of the Colorado river as it makes its way south towards the Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend is a breathtaking experience - and not just because of the high winds, limited railings, and 1,000 foot drop.

The bend itself is located just outside of Page, AZ, which also serves as a great launching point for excursions to Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon (which was sadly closed due to COVID.) This one is a definite “must” on your list if you are visiting the North Rim* of the Grand Canyon, but it’s probably still worth the ~3 hour drive for those visiting the more popular South Rim as well.

* Just make sure the North Rim is actually open when you go. More on that in our next post.
