A Worthy Competitor
We come at last to In-N-Out Burger, the chain most often mentioned along side Culver’s in the competition for best regional burger joint. And it is a worthy competitor indeed. While they don’t have anywhere near the overall selection that Culver’s has, the quality of the In-N-Out Burger with its special sauce certainly gives the butter burger a run for its money. Ultimately, it falls short in our estimation not because of the burger (which we’d rate close to Culver’s, maybe 4.25/5 🍔), but because of the truly awful concoction that is In-N-Out fries.
Oh god, In-N-Out fries. What a disaster. Truly like eating cold cardboard. And yes, we also tried them “animal style” (slathered in cheese, onions, and special sauce) - and while cheese/onion/sauce slathered cardboard is better than regular cardboard, it’s still such a gargantuan letdown when paired with such an excellent burger.
So yes, when you go west, eat at In-N-Out Burger as often as you can. Just get a second burger and hold the fries.
Our Rating: 4 out of 5 Culverses.
